Protect and Expand the CDCTC

Resource January 29, 2025

We have a major opportunity for child care – but we need your help.

Working families with young children urgently need support. At the top of that list: Making it easier for parents to find and afford child care. The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit is the only tax provision specifically designed to help working parents with the cost of child care. Families need this tax credit.

We know that Congress will focus on taxes this year. We also know it is crucial that protecting and expanding the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC, or family care credit) is part of that conversation. This important tax credit helps working parents keep more of what they earn to pay for child care and, if it were expanded, could provide real help for families struggling to pay for child care.

See below for ways to act, learn, and share.
